LEARNING FOR LIFE

Twinning Project

Liss Junior School is a member of the Queen Elizabeth Parks Project and has a thriving partnership in place with Kafuro Primary School in Uganda. Twinned since 2009, collaborative work is used to challenge stereotypes that exist in both communities and the pupils in both schools have moved closer to becoming rounded global citizens as an outcome. Sustainable Development Goals are made explicit within the school curriculum. The British Council said, “Your partnership is exemplary in how you have embedded it within your curriculum.” The curriculum work carried out over the last six years has resulted in initial accreditation and, in September 2018, reaccreditation of the full International Schools Award.

Liss Junior School has acted as a cluster lead in organising reciprocal visits through the British Council’s Connecting Classrooms program. This has allowed pupils and teachers to experience a different culture and methods of teaching. The school has just been approved for another round of British Council funding. Further reciprocal visits are planned for March and July 2021.
